FAQ Practical test of compostable diaper inlays

1.  Can I use my own cloth diapers?

Yes, you may use your own cloth diaper as in principle our inlays should be compatible with any cloth diaper.

If you intend to use them, please bring your diapers (outer pants) to the meeting on Monday, so we can check the fitting together. We are still in the process of improving production methods and want to make sure your experience will be smooth.

2. How to fit the inlay into the outer pants?

Please watch our short video (8 minutes), ideally with your partner and those who take care, so you all know what to look out for. Thank you!

3. Can I use it with a disposable diaper as outer pants?

This is not what we intended in the first place, but yes, in principle it is possible. Please keep in mind that disposable diapers are not made to be re-used and the velcro strip for closing tears quickly. That way, you might not be saving diaper trash after all.

4. When should I start using the inlays?

Please start - if possible - on day one and use the Dycle inlays every day of the week at least for some time of the day. Only that way you will get an understanding what a daily routine with compostable diapers would look like.

5. How often should I change?

It is not necessary to use compostable diapers 24/7. The inlays should be changed when they are wet about every 1,5 -2,5 hours depending on your baby’s elimination. Maybe you can plan to use the inlay every day in the morning or afternoon hours so that a new routine develops with ease.

6. What about nighttime?

We know that changing night routines is a big thing in family life. To guarantee all your family members sound sleep, we recommend that you stick with your current diapering option.

If, however, you are curious about nighttime cloth diaper options or how to offer the potty during the night, please watch our webinar recordings of the sessions in question.

7. What about outings?

As you need the bucket and charcoal to properly dispose of the inlays, it is best to use them at home or only for short outings, when you do not have to change before returning home.

8. Where to dispose of the used inlays?

Please watch our instruction video and read the information included in the Welcome Kit.
Used inlays should go into the collection bucket or into the normal household garbage bin, never into the bio waste bin or your compost pile.

9.  What are inlay made of, which ingredients and materials do you use?

The filling of the inlay is made of 100% raw hemp fibers grown and physically processed locally (Brandenburg). The cover that touches your baby’s skin is cellulose (certified as OekoText 100 Class 1) and the bottom lining is a layer of bio-plastic made out of non-food materials that protects clothes from wetness and will fully decompose during the composting process. The inlays for these two weeks of our practical test have all been handmade and are 100% chemical-free.

10. Can I watch the webinars once more?

Yes, all video recordings are available until the end of August 2021. Please register for the webinars and you will get a link to the recordings automatically.
