Learning and networking at the Academy of the European Union Social Innovation Competition in Turin, Italy
DYCLE was selected as one of the 30 semi-finalists of European Social Innovation Competition in 2019. The Semi-Finalists were chosen from 543 applications from 19 countries across Europe. This year’s topic was one of the big issues of our time: challenging plastic waste.
We were so lucky to take part in this three days educational and networking event in the city of Turin, Italy. We enjoyed very helpful inputs such as : System Change presented by Ashoka Spain, Human-centred design by Nesta Italy, collaborative leadership by Remko Berkhout, Scaling and spreading by NextStopLABS, Impact investing by Social Fare and a storycrafting and pitching workshop by Matt Boardman.
We met innovators and entrepreneurs of the selected teams. For us it was clear that we would collaborate and encourage each other while being participants of the same competition. The spirit of linking rather than ranking, the mindset of bringing biggest impact together to our planet.
The amazing part of this competition is that each semi-finalist team also received support from a coach. In our case it was Daniel Meehan, who contributed his experience and very much helped us to get the most out of the competition by guiding us through the process of writing a clear and comprehensive concept. Together we were able to come up with a constructive plan in order to use our strength of building communities, ready to spread the idea to other cities.
