DYCLE has moved into its new office space at Studio On in Berlin Alt-Treptow, next to Görlitzer park.
The DYCLE team has been moving into several co-working spaces and incubation programmes in the past. Each place offered us great working space as well as the opportunity to meet unique communities. We are most fortunate to be based in Berlin where there are so many varieties of co-working spaces. We often found it more beneficial to be part of these communities rather than to have our own office space. DYCLE received so much inspiration and practical tips from the other entrepreneurs and social organizations at co-working spaces. We are sad to leave our Impact Hub Berlin. However, we will be increasing the number of our team members in order to prepare for our continuous operations in the next six months! Our new space is a former Japanese Rice Ball (Onigiri) factory.
Are you familiar with Onigiri? Yes, it is a traditional rice ball with a typical umeboshi (pickled apricot) or lacks fish inside. Here, let us tell you an interesting story about Birth and Onigiri. In Japan, the midwife prepares plenty of small Onigiri, when the pregnant woman starts having contractions. Do you know why? Because giving birth requires an amazing amount of energy, sometimes for long hours. The pregnant mother and the small baby in her womb need to communicate with each other, and, during those long hours of labour, to trust that they can make it together. Onigiri is believed to be soul food for this special moment, giving great energy to the first collaboration between a mother and her small baby. How lucky are we that we can use a former Onigiri factory in a few months!
DYCLE will start its continuous operation at the beginning of 2020. It was in March 2015 when Ayumi - founder of DYCLE - established her first team. You could say that DYCLE has been pregnant for five years. What a long pregnancy! The DYCLE team made colourful Onigiri for our guests at the internal welcome party on 30th of August. We will be preparing for our last pregnancy period during the next six months. Please wish us a safe birth!
